As various parts of the nation are entering hurricane season along with various reports of other natural disasters affecting communities and families, it is more important to build and replenish emergency kits and review emergency evacuation plans for the event of any natural disasters. 

Here are some important tips on how to build an emergency kit:


-Place items in airtight containers or airtight plastic bags. 

-Include food, water, batteries, flashlights, first aid kits, dust masks, cell phone charges, local maps, multiple tools, etc. 

-Having extra items such as batteries and water (if possible) is necessary. 

-Carry cash, personal medications, sleeping bags and Non-prescription medications.

-Pack blankets and extra clothing.
