Black Influencer Spotlight VIII
Welcome back to the eighth installment of Black influencer spotlight with 3KINGS Grooming. In this edition, we will highlight two fashion moguls shaping the industry through their own moves.
Let us know who you would like for us to spotlight next in the comments!
With over 12 years in the industry, Chrissy Rutherford is an expert in social media and fashion. Being nominated for ASME Award for social media in 2019, Rutherford is known for advocating for mental health awareness and speaks about her own personal struggles with anxiety. Her current venture is a consulting agency she co founded with Danielle Prescod, a fellow fashion editor. Their consulting agency, 2BG, began in 2020 and provides consultation and advice for fashion and beauty brands, as well as influencers on how to implement anti-racist communication strategies. She also serves as a contributing editor at Harper’s Bazaar.
Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn native and founder of Sincerely, Tommy, Kai Avent-deLeon has always advocated for social justice while having a chic but minimal style. Starting at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Kai started doing textile design and patternmaking where her love of fashion grew. She would later in her young adult life work at Chanel and Aritzia before the purpose of Sincerely, Tommy was found. The inspiration for the fashion and lifestyle concept store is to “continue to highlight these emerging brands because that’s what New York is.” Sincerely, Tommy is also a coffee shop, eatery, and boutique hostel, all marked with Avent-deLeon’s thoughtful imprint.
